What our Athletes are saying

“I have been a triathlete for the past 15 years and have raced competitively with our Canadian military team around the world. I was self-coached up until around 3 years ago and had reached a plateau in performance. I was having difficulty avoiding training injuries and maintaining focus.

Joining the RFM team has allowed me to regain focus and break through those prior plateaus. Dan and the Team focussed on my areas of weakness and set me up with a progressive program that has kept me injury-free and reinvigorated to race. Since joining the team, I have achieved new personal bests in the 10k, ½ marathon, marathon, Ironman 70.3, and Ironman distances.

Even if you are an experienced and knowledgeable athlete, as I was, it is important to have a sounding board. A good coach can provide perspective to tell you when you need more recovery, or to focus on an area you may not enjoy but that you need. It is that external perspective that will help you to achieve your goals, that is what Dan and the RFM team have done for me!”

“RFM provides an impressive combination of experience and expertise. There is a great sense of community, humour, and sometimes rest stops for ice cream during group rides. As a ‘recreational’ triathlete, I never feel less important than the high performers. Great coaching.”

“My coach is very knowledgeable, and uses evidence to build a plan that works toward my race, fitness and life goals. He helps increase intensity and duration gradually and quickly modifies the plan if I have pain or concerns. The journey together includes humour, technology, communication, explanations, building on success as well as some subtle goading as needed.”

“Working with RFM has helped me to achieve things I never thought I’d try. Thanks to Shelby and Chris, I’ve tackled elevations and speeds on the bike that I’d never attempt on my own and achieved a PB in a half marathon. I’m now training for my first half iron. The structured approach and data-driven metrics, combined with the positive support and encouragement have made all the difference.”
